Sit, Walk, Stand
Watchman Nee

by Erik Momsen

The way we see is ultimately important.  Jesus said, “if your eye is health your whole boy will be full of light” (Matthew 6:21-23).  It is so important to see the Gospel clearly.  Your very life and eternity depends on it.

“He raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come." (Ephesians 1:20,21)

"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved.  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:4-6)

After Jesus had made the greatest sacrifice for us, “He sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (Hebrews 1:3)

The Christian life begins when we see ourselves seated with Him in the heavens.  We are not grovelling trying to get accepted by God.  He has lifted us up and already seated us.

Human nature and religion sees us performing a task and then deserving a rest after than.  We need to work for what we have.  You have to prove yourself.  Christianity is the exact opposite.  That is why it is so difficult for people to understand and accept.

Watchman Nee says; “Christianity begins not with a big Do, but with a big DONE”.  Jesus cried out, “It is finished” and he meant it.  Your Father has it under control.  Bono said. “Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car. Daddy's your comfort. Daddy's your best friend.  Daddy'll hold your hand right up to the end”.

What does it mean to be saved by faith?  Purely that we completely rest on Jesus – he has done everything for our salvation.  God does it all and we do nothing.  We rest and enjoy it.  Sounds too good to be true and most will not believe it.

When I understand salvation I will understand my life.  The full weight of my life I rest on Him.  All my life I rest on Him.  I don't work for money, I work to follow God!!!!  The only thing I ever do is repent and believe. i.e. change my thinking and believe.

God worked for six days and then He rested – Humanity was made on the sixth day and then God rested – Adam's first day was thus God's first day of rest.  Adam starts in God's rest.  We try to take over God's role if we work first and then rest.  We rest in God first and then we work after that.  If we have not found God's rest then our work will kill us.

God in fact never stopped his work – Jesus says ”My Father works even up to now, and I work” until He cried out on the cross “It is finished”.

Our Christian life begins with the realization that God has provided all – We even see this in the provision of the ram that saves Isaac.

God “has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 1:3).

We receive (have received) the Spirit by believing that we receive the Spirit in the same way we received salvation.  Salvation the biggest gift sets the pattern for receiving all else.

“You foolish Galatians!  Who has bewitched you?  Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.  I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?  Are you so foolish?  After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?" (Galatians 3:1-3)

FORGIVENESS STARTS FROM REST - “it is in God's hands”.
HEALING STARTS FROM REST - “nothing takes me from His hand ..."
