I had the disturbing experience of sharing facilities with a large group of senior citizens. Strangely they were very loud and it was evident that they were well seasoned party people. The jokes were embarrassingly crude and innuendos flowed freely. Meal time arrived and a rather brash lady stood up and said grace. In a loud voice she said, "Thank God" and sat down. At the next meal another strange grace was said. "God make us not like porridge, cold and stiff bit like corn flakes, crispy and ready to serve. Amen".
I am used to people who are still of the world. I go to Biker rallies where half the people fall down drunk and more than half the language is very colourful.
Nearly all my fellow hostel dwellers will not be in this world in ten years from now. They will be navigating the after-life. I have become accustomed to dealing with wise, mature, Godly older people and was deeply disturbed by the lack of salvation evident in this group. Most of all I had a deep sense of lives wasted. Where was the legacy of a life shaped and matured as it walk with God?
I expected to see wisdom but saw a strange need for religion. The prayers showed a distinct lack of personal relationship with God. Lives that should have the fragrance of Christ on them seemed to have an astonishing shallowness to them. What would they leave behind that would speak of God's Kingdom? There was a distinct lack of "seasoning". Paul tells the believers at Colosse:
"Walk in wisdom toward those on the outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, having been seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." (Colossians 4:5,6)
THAT NONE WOULD BE LOST
Make no mistake, this life comes to an end. Most of humanity believes there is an after-life. Most of humanity believes that there is a positive and a negative outcome to this life. It is my task and every believer in Jesus Christ likewise, to ensure that we find ourselves on the right side.
"He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death." (Revelation 2:11)
"Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. The second death has no authority over these." (Revelation 20:6)
"And death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death. And if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the Lake of Fire." (Revelation 20:14,15)
THIS IS A SINKING SHIP, THIS IS A BURNING BUILDING - I HAVE TO SAVE AS MANY AS WILL COME WITH ME
"The day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety! Then sudden destruction comes on them, as travail upon a woman with child. And they shall not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day should overtake you like a thief. You are all the sons of light and the sons of the day. We are not of the night, or of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us watch and be calm. For those sleeping sleep in the night, and those being drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be calm, having put on the breastplate of faith and love and the hope of salvation for a helmet. For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we watch or sleep we should live together with Him. Therefore comfort one another, and edify one another, even as you also do." (Thessalonians. 5:1-11)
- The world is not about peace and safety - why do we get so upset about the world around us? --- because the world is too important to us!!!
- The Lord will return and destruction will come upon many.
- BUT we are sons of the light and are not fearful of His return.
- BE CALM.
- Faith & love protects my heart - my heart turns bitter unless I LOVE.
- Hope of salvation protect your mind - I WIN no matter what.
- We who are in Christ are not destined for wrath - BUT to be with Him.
- Jesus DIED for us - you need no more or no less.
GET THIS GREAT SALVATION NOW & THEN GO AND HELP OTHERS TO SALVATION ----- THROUGH LOVE
