"I will never leave you of forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5 cf Deuteronomy 31:6) These are words ever person craves from their deepest being. But parents so often forsake their children. Lovers are short lived and people we trust desert us.
Who will be there for us no matter what? No one, no one!!!
I have become aware in the last days that walking a daily faith and just keeping going is a journey into simplicity. It doesn't matter what I know but who I know --- or better who knows me. My walk of faith is no more or less than the One who speaks to me day by day, moment by moment.
"SMILE!" He said as I walked out of the door of the P&P,
"What?" "Put a smile on that face!"
It was God correcting my mood and readying me to be His witness and disciple. What a great witness we are as we trudge through life with a scowl on our faces and an accusation in our hearts. Go figure why we are so ineffective at evangelism.
In marriage and family counselling there is much advice to be given but in the end it is of little value if I am not tuned into my Creator and he is adjusting my operating system on a moment by moment basis. Humans are too complicated to think I can "handle" them. It is only God in me that is worth anything
A few days ago a friend told of a strange event in his life. He was alone with worship music playing in the background and had a little time to himself to think ---- which turned into talking with God ---- which became worship (realizing His worth). The room became bright white and he was filled with a sense of awe and even fear. Silly boy, he jumped up and ran.
IT IS ALL ABOUT HIS PRESENCE - THIS IS THE AIR WE BREATH - THIS IS WHAT WE NEED - HIS PRESENCE
IT IS WHAT THE FLEDGELING NATION ISRAEL NEEDED
"And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the right away, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, to go by day and night. He did not take away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people." (Exodus 13:21,22)
"And it happened as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, they turned toward the wilderness. And behold! The glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud!" (Exodus 16:10)
"And it happened when the priests had come out of the Holy of Holies, the cloud filled the house of the LORD. And the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD And Solomon said, The LORD said that He would dwell in the thick darkness." 1 Kings 8:10-12
Do you think our nation is any different? We too need God's presence among us and his servants usher in His presence in differing measures.
AFTER JOSHUA & CALEB RETURN FROM CANAAN (Numbers 14)
"Only do not rebel against the LORD, neither fear the people of the land. For they are bread for us. Their protection has moved from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them. But all the congregation said to stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the sons of Israel." (Numbers 14:9-10)
- The "protection" of the Canaanites had left - they and their armies remained.
- It was a spiritual battle that YHWH had already won.
- The Presence of God was their protection.
JESUS OUR EMANUEL
"And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain apart. And He was transfigured before them. And His face shone as the sun, and His clothing was white as the light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with Him. And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here. If You will, let us make here three tabernacles; one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. While he yet spoke, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And behold a voice out of the cloud which said, This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, hear Him. And when the disciples heard, they fell on their face and were greatly terrified. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise and do not be terrified." Matthew 17:1-7
- You need to get that presence of the living God for yourself.
- As with the 10 virgins, no one can get it for you.
- The Spirit is promised and available to all to transform your life.
- We do not get this Spirit by observance but by faith (Galatians 3).
