Life Hidden in Him
by Erik Momsen
I woke in the middle of the night with the question on my mind, "Why am I so full of life?" I immediately answered the question. "It is because Christ lives in me!" What a truth and joy. Paul feel the same way when he says; "I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." (Galatians 2:20)
There is a cry in every human heart for more life and more of life. The Bible says God has set eternity in the hearts of humanity (Ecclesiastes 3:11). We know there should be more. For many the answer lies in getting more or doing more. There is a deep dissatisfaction that we try to fill or cover with created things. The answer lies with the Creator.
LIFE IS NOT!
LIFE IS NOT ....... CLINGING
"He who finds his life shall lose it. And he who loses his life for My sake shall find it". (Matthew 10:39) - JESUS is the only one to cling to! Live it for Him and others and LIVE!
LIFE IS NOT ........ IN THE PHYSICAL
"Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ... For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things." (Matthew 6:25,32) - Life cannot come from dead things.
LIFE IS NOT ........ STUFF
"And He said to them, Watch and keep yourselves from covetousness. For a man's life is not in the abundance of the things which he possesses". (Luke 12:15)
LIFE IS NOT ......... WORK
"But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she came to Him and said, Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? ... Jesus answered, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things. But one thing is needful, and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her". (Luke 10:40-42) - Work is GOOD but being burdened by it is NOT. Work without joy is a problem.
LIFE IS !!!
LIFE IS A GIFT!
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) - Strange that our society speaks of "the gift of life" but does not want the know the One who gives the gift.
LIFE IS IN REPENTANCE & REJOICING
"Will You not give us life again, so that Your people may rejoice in You? Show us Your mercy, O LORD, and grant us Your salvation". (Psalm 85:6,7) - There is a process that brings life - we must discover that the "old life" is not life - repenting (changing your thinking) asking of Him who gives life - and then rejoicing in that life.
LIFE NEEDS LIGHT
"I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life". (John 8:12) - Life is a power, a force that comes only from God.
LIFE FROM HEAVEN
"For the bread of God is He who comes down from Heaven and gives life to the world." (John 6:33) - A gift of God right now!
LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
"It is the Spirit that makes alive, the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and are life." (John 6:63) - Life starts in your spirit touched by The Spirit.
LIFE IN LOVE
"Keep yourselves in the love of God, eagerly awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to everlasting life". (Jude 1:21). "We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love his brother abides in death". (1 John 3:14) - If God is Love, then what ever is done in Love will bring life.
LIFE IN TRUTH
"Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." (John 6:68)
LIFE IS IN DEATH ???
"I have been crucified with Christ, and I live; yet no longer I, but Christ lives in me. And that life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith toward the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself on my behalf." (Galatians 2:20)
The old man has to die and has died in Christ. I now live focused on the Life of Christ and He pours His eternal life into me. His Spirit, Hope, Light, Truth, Joy, New mind ......
"Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold on eternal life, ... " (1 Timothy 6:12)
Be mindful of things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God. When Christ our Life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory." (Colossians 3:2-4)
